FASHION FOR A CAUSE- SAMANTHA WILLS X MOUNT FRANKLIN
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the McGrath Foundation, the always inspiring Samantha Wills has collaborated with Mount Franklin to produce a limited edition collection to not only raise funds, but to spread the message of empowerment and support among women.
I support many causes, but this one is particularly close to my heart. When I was 18, my mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I was in LA on my first overseas trip, and will never forget hearing those three dreaded words over the phone. My world stopped. Surely this couldn’t be. She was 38, a healthy mother of 5 who had already survived the loss of a daughter. As a teen, it was quite confronting to navigate the emotions that come with the realization that mothers aren’t invincible. What a frightening thought. Thankfully, it was in the early stages and treatment was successful. And what a blessing for the world, this woman has gone on to foster and adopt 5 more children that came from abusive or drug dependent families.
I asked hubby to take a few photos of me wearing my Samantha Wills “armour”, but our little photo-bomber kept running into frame to adjust my feathers. Of course these pics ended up my favourite, and in retrospect, serve as a reminder as to why this cause is so important. Breast Cancer is the most common cancer to affect women, and most of those diagnosed are mothers- including Jane McGrath, who left behind two small children. And for me, this is the tragedy.
Not only will $30 from each item go to aid the wonderful work of the McGrath Foundation, but by proudly wearing your Samantha Wills “armour”, you will show your support to the world. Let’s stand united- women for women, mother for mother. Shop collection HERE xo
